Autumn training has been quite good for us this year. We were able to spend lot of time on water, and improve rowing technique. I am sure this will make next season easier and hopefully faster for us. For Christmas I have planned 2 weeks of individual training with a bit less hours than normal. I wish the athletes enjoy family and friends before we continue training in Prague on 4th January 2010.
Rowing is a lot about maximising physiology. When we spend a lot of time on water, where we are not able to control the intensities so well, and many people fear that it can cause problems in improving physiology. I agree to this to some point. During this fall our whole U23 group has made records on 2k, some also on 6k. 6k tests are not directly compareable becouse for the first time we have done them on slides, but 2k results tell about improvement, especially of the young. During the spring I would like to see further development, also from more experienced rowers. Last weekend the results on Ergo regatta were good, especially in middle of voluminous training, and after the regatta I was quite happy. We will participate in next ergo regatta on 9th January in Hradec Kralove, and then to national Erg championships on february. Target is that we qualify the whole group to championships. I think the limit will be around 6:08-6:12, depending weather 20 or 24 rowers will qualify.
Having been in Dukla for one year now I feel quite good about my group. We need to work a lot, but we are improving. I have learned to know a little bit the athletes individually, it always makes coaches work easier!
Co-operation with the LM group and Rudolf Kupriva has been good for me and the whole group, despite occasional rush hour at the gym. I feel the athletes are enjoying working hard towards next summer, anxious to improve. That is a good sign.
I now take the opportunity to wish all of my blog readers Enjoyable Christmas and succesfull new year.
